The AFIRS 228™ Iridium SATCOM family offers a direct communication link to your aircraft, ensuring safe, secure operations and greater in-flight operational control.

AFIRS 228™ models are designed and engineered to meet a variety of aviation requirements.

The AFIRS CAN-TSO-C159b Iridium SATCOM solution provides the aircraft with reliable FANS 1/A, ADS-C, CPDLC and ACARS over Iridium messaging capabilities. Benefits offered by FANS include: more efficient route structure, reduced flight times, reduced fuel burns, and enhanced communications between ATC and the aircraft.

AFIRS can be configured to provide access to FLYHT two-way text messaging to and from the flight deck using the aircraft’s own MCDU (multifunction control and display unit) or integrated into an iPad―without the need for an MCDU.

Easy AID Upgrade

A simple software upgrade to AFIRS 228 and the addition of a small, low-cost control panel transforms AFIRS into an Aircraft Interface Device (AID) to power your EFB.

The AFIRS system can also provide an Aircraft Data Interface Function (ADIF) that meets ARINC 834 server specification transforming your SATCOM system into a full AID capability with connectivity. It is remotely configurable and provides aircraft data in a standard format to EFBs and 3rd party applications.

Using AFIRS as an ADIF opens a variety of exciting possibilities for your connected EFB. With aircraft data connected to the EFB, operational intelligence such as distance travelled, ETA, ATA, ETE, GPS own-ship, and fuel can be actioned through the EFB.
