Kent is not only an aviation industry veteran of twenty years, but also one of FLYHT’s formative employees. Kent holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Calgary and is also a commercial pilot flying charters for several years. Early on in FLYHT’s history, Kent was instrumental in the design and commercialization of FLYHT’s launch products, the AFIRS 220 and UpTime. Kent has been invited to participate in several influential industry working groups for missing aircraft including AF477 and MH370, culminating in working with ICAO on the Global Aeronautical Distress Safety System (GADSS). During Kent’s tenure at FLYHT he has held impactful leadership roles within product development as a Technical Fellow and was key in FLYHT’s recent implementation of Agile methodology. Kent was elevated to his leadership role as President in 2021, and since December 2022, has also served as Interim CEO.
Alana Forbes, CPA, CGA, was appointed into the role of CFO at FLYHT in March 2018. Alana achieved her CGA designation in 2002 and since joining the Company in 2008, she has led many special projects. These include conversion to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), implementation of a new ERP system, and acquisitions in the US and Germany. Alana has a Bachelor of Commerce from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick and over 20 years of accounting experience.
Scott Chambers has been named Vice President Sales and Marketing. Scott brings over a quarter of a century of aviation sales and market experience, most recently as Director of Sales, Americas at Teledyne Controls.
Darrel Deane was appointed into the role of VP Solutions in December 2020. Darrel has been with FLYHT since 2012. At FLYHT he has led the architecture, development and deployment of various airborne and ground systems. Prior to FLYHT, he worked in pharmaceutical data management, military communications, cellular design and embedded system implementations. Darrel graduated from the University of Calgary with a BSc. in Electrical Engineering in 2000.
Gurjot has been with FLYHT since 2011, serving the business in many capacities with a focus on end customer delivery: certification engineering, account management, program management, embedded systems management, and operations management He holds a B.Eng. in Aerospace Engineering from Carleton University and is a Professional Engineer with a Project Management Professional designation. During his tenure at FLYHT, Gurjot has been involved in key programs including the first STC certifications for the flagship AFIRS 228 product, the 2018 Boeing ecoDemonstrator program and multiple OEM delivery programs. Gurjot has been supporting the company’s growth as VP of Operations since November 2021.
Murray Skelton was named Vice President Weather Solutions and Business Development in 2022. Murray brings over 25 years of aviation experience in Business, Market and Product Development. Having started his career working for major airlines in the UK, Europe and the Middle East he joins flight from Teledyne Controls where he held the role of Senior Director of Business Development.
