Engine trend data is transmitted automatically in real-time from every flight during takeoff and stable cruise. The AFIRSTM solution reduces pilot workload during flight while also ensuring that consistent, accurate and timely engine data is transferred directly from the plane to your ground crew, manufacturer or a third party for analysis – eliminating costly delays and transcription errors.
The AFIRS system reporting thresholds can be set independently of the manufacturer’s limits, a capability that can be extremely valuable for trend analysis and vibration monitoring. Operators can be alerted to issues that are becoming problematic but are still below standard reporting limits. Recently, a customer avoided a major engine malfunction using this capability, saving the operator approximately $6 million dollars in this single event alone.
Engine trend reports can also be formatted to a meet customer’s output specifications from organizations such as G.E, Rolls Royce and Pratt & Whitney etc. Trend reports are passed directly from the AFIRS system to the maintenance personnel who need it. As a result, there is no risk of human or data entry error since there are no intermediary steps or manual processing required.
Real-time engine trend alerts also enable proactive maintenance of your aircraft’s engines since you can take an engine trend multiple times per flight. More data points, captured more often can lead to trends not only appearing sooner but also improves their accuracy. In addition, rather than waiting for trend reports to be created manually – causing latency in trending – maintenance has instant awareness of an evolving trend. Extended-range Twin Engine Operational Performance Standards (ETOPS)

Operators must also demonstrate commitment to sound processes, demonstrated best practices and continuous monitoring. To this end the FAA and other agencies validates that an operator has:
• A fully developed maintenance program, including parts tracking and control;
• An engine condition monitoring and reporting system;
• A propulsion system-monitoring program;
• An ETOPS reliability program and maintenance manual;
• A plan for resolving discrepancies with the airframe/engine configuration, maintenance and procedures (CMP) document.
