Highly Accurate Weather Data
The TAMDAR (Tropospheric Airborne Meteorological Data Reporting) sensor measures and detects several atmospheric conditions including:
– winds aloft
– turbulence, and
– GPS positioning data
This weather data is combined with the GPS data and transmitted in real-time from the aircraft to FLYHT’s ground-based data center. Once processed, the data is used by airlines to optimize flight plans.
The data, collected by hundreds of aircraft, supplies critical information to international weather monitoring organizations.
