AFIRS sends this information through satellite networks to the UpTimeTM cloud-based data center, which provides aircraft operators with direct insight into the operational status and health of their aircraft and enables them to take corrective action to maintain the highest standard of operational control.

Position Summary

The Support Specialist will use FLYHT’s proprietary technology and industry leading products to extract and process information from aircraft data buses in real time. This information is used to construct and deliver reports to customers via satellite and ground-based systems to dramatically improve their situational awareness on the ground.

As a Support Specialist you will work in FLYHT’s Customer Engineering team to develop, deliver and support FLYHT’s products and services to a diverse base of customers and aircraft around the world. These services are vital to our customers who rely on them to fly safer, become more efficient and increase profits.

  • Interpret and understand internal requirements and 3rd-party technical information to develop and deliver solutions on FLYHT products to a worldwide customer base.
  • Write applications for FLYHT’s airborne platforms in the ‘C’ language to analyze aircraft data in real-time and generate reports when specified conditions exist.
  • Diagnose reported problems by analyzing aircraft behaviour, reports and other flight data, coupled with knowledge of the systems involved in the generation, collection, analysis, transmission, processing and reporting of aircraft data.
  • Develop and deploy effective, robust solutions that address root cause without impacting customer services.
  • Maintain aircraft data, configurations and software via FLYHT’s ground-based systems.
  • Maintain and improve code quality, standards, and implementation through testing, tools and application of best practices.
  • Be available outside of normal business hours for product support and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to and champion development of processes and procedures to continually improve and expand FLYHT’s products and services.

Technical Proficiencies

  • Strong competency in the ‘C’ language.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux and shell scripting.


  • A diploma or degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of software development experience, preferably in an embedded environment.
  • Good working knowledge of the aviation industry, jet engines, flying dynamics, control and communication systems in modern aircraft.
  • Knowledge of and experience with common aircraft data buses such as ARINC 717 and ARINC 429.
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience using current versions of Microsoft office products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.


  • A diploma or university degree in an aviation related field such as aircraft maintenance, avionics, Aircraft Structures, Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Familiar with the principles of electrical signaling for data transfer.
  • Experience with messaging systems and serial protocols.
  • Experience with C# or C++.
  • Experience with testing and verification.
