Position Summary:

Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will be responsible for oversight of all accounting, finance and reporting activities. Will ensure that FLYHT has the controls, systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits. The Controller will work closely with the Executive and management, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can support their departments.

Financial control and reporting;

Ensuring tax and regulatory filings are submitted on a timely basis


  • Approval of all financial entries (AP, AR, inventory, journal entries, bank reconciliations);
  • Monthly adjusting entries;
  • Creation of monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements including notes when required;
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual Management Discussion and Analysis;
  • Prepare monthly internal KPI reporting for sales & operational reviews; prepare & present monthly financial results to executive team;
  • Ensure accurate recurring monthly billing;
  • Maintain/ensure project reporting accuracy;
  • Periodic reporting to executive team (working capital, collections issues, cash flow forecasting);
  • Lead preparation of annual budgets;
  • External audit lead including annual SRED claim financial lead;
  • Validate financial forecasted impact of sales deals;
  • Employee options proposal & execution;
  • Evaluate & maintain controls with changing business requirements;
  • Financial review of proposed agreements with customers & suppliers;
  • Assess financial impact of contractual terms and conditions;
  • Collections;
  • Maintaining efficiencies of processes / systems and implementing improvements when needed;
  • Financial support & evaluation of non-standard opportunities (loans, grants, sales opportunities);

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Exceptional Excel skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Proficient in one or more ERP systems / financial software;
  • Familiar with required regulatory filings in public company environment;
  • Current knowledge of Canadian Corporate Income and Goods and Services Taxes



  • 5+ years proven experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller;
  • Canadian Professional Accounting Designation;
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
  • Self-motivated and able to work well with minimum supervision;
  • Good organizational and time management skills;
  • Sense of urgency and ability to manage conflicting deadlines and commitments;
  • High level analytical and trouble shooting abilities;
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise flexibility, initiative, good judgment and discretion;
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Diplomatic and confidential;
  • Team player;
  • Confidence in preparing and delivering presentations to staff, management and, if requested, to the Board of Directors.


  • Aerospace experience
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP
