FLYHT’s Automated Flight Information Reporting System (AFIRSTM) is specifically designed to enhance operational control, improve dispatch reliability and safety and reduce costs. FLYHT provides these solutions to more than 70 customers (including airlines, leasing companies, and original equipment manufacturers) worldwide.

FLYHT’s unique ability to capture, process, and transmit data, coupled with real-time alerts provides airlines with direct insight into the operational status and health of their aircraft and enables them to take corrective action in order to maintain the highest standard of operational control.

Operating since 1998 and headquartered in Calgary, Canada, FLYHT has a global footprint with sales and installation support in China, South East Asia, the United States and Europe.

Publicly traded since March 2003 on the Toronto Venture Exchange as FLY, a company name change was approved from AeroMechanical Services Ltd. to FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd. in 2012. In June 2014, FLYHT began trading on the OTCQX marketplace under symbol FLYLF.

Bill Tempany – Chairman

Bill Tempany was named Chairman on October 19, 2015. Bill has more than 35 years of senior management experience in hi-tech companies and more than 15 years experience in the public markets. He was CEO of FLYHT from March 2003 to October 2015 and was President from January 2012 to January 2014. He was founder, President, and CEO of Fintech Services Ltd. (now Sylogist Ltd.), President and founder of QByte Services Ltd., and a consultant in the international oil and gas industry to companies such as Ziff Energy Group and Petrobras.

Doug Marlin – Vice Chairman, Audit Committee, Governance & Compensation Committee

Doug Marlin has been President of Marlin Ventures Inc., a Canadian-based consulting firm, since January 1997. Doug was previously President of JDA Software Ltd. from 1981 to 1996. He has served on the FLYHT board of directors since March 2003.

Mike Brown – Governance & Compensation Committee

Mike Brown is a lawyer with the firm of Geselbracht Brown and practices in the areas of Business Law, Real Estate Law, Wills & Estates and Civil Litigation. Mike is currently Chair of the Board of Governors of Vancouver Island University (V.I.U.) and was a strong leader in the logistical and legal challenges of the transition of V.I.U. from a university college to full university status. During that process he was instrumental in the creation and implementation of a governance process for the new V.I.U. and received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal after being recommended by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) for his service to higher education in Canada. Within his community he has also been actively involved with the United Way, the Nanaimo Dragon Boat Festival Society, Crime Stoppers, the Nanaimo Rotary Club and the Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce. Mike is a graduate of the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa. He has served on the FLYHT board of directors since March 2003.

Paul Takalo – Audit Committee

Paul Takalo is a Chartered Accountant who was employed with Grant Thornton from 1985 to 2005 and spent the last five years of his time there as Audit Partner. From November 2005 to January 2015 Paul held the position of Vice President, Finance and CFO with Standen’s Limited and a successor Limited Partnership. Paul has been on the FLYHT board of directors since May 2008.

Jacques Kavafian – Audit Committee

Jacques Kavafian is an independent businessman, based in Richmond Hill, ON. He is well known to the investment, aviation and travel communities with more than 28 years of experience in capital markets. He has particular expertise in the airline, aerospace and leisure industries. Jacques joined the FLYHT board of directors in December 2010.

Jack Olcott – Governanace & Compensation Committee

Jack Olcott was educated as an aeronautical engineer (BSE & MSE, Princeton University; MBA, Rutgers University) and has a certificate in leadership training from the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University. Jack began his career in business aviation and was involved with creating a flight research laboratory at the Indian Institute of Technology/Kanpur. He also obtained and managed flight mechanics contracts issued by NASA and private industry. In the early 1970’s Jack began a career in aviation journalism where he was Editor and Publisher of Business & Commercial Aviation magazine and a Vice President of McGraw-Hill’s Aviation Week Group. Jack joined the National Business Aviation Association as President in 1992 and held that position until 2003. He is currently President of General Aviation Company. He joined the board of directors of FLYHT in May 2008.

Barry Eccleston – Governance & Compensation Committee

Barry Eccleston is President of Airbus Americas, Inc. He joined Airbus from Honeywell where he served as Vice President for the $1.4 billion Propulsion Systems Enterprise. Prior to that, he held increasingly senior positions with Rolls-Royce for 29-years, culminating as President and CEO Rolls-Royce Canada and President and CEO of International Aero Engines, in which Rolls-Royce was a major shareholder. Barry is Chairman-Elect of the British American Business Association in Washington DC, a member of the Board of Governors of CCAM in Virginia, on the board of the National Aeronautic Association (NAA). He is past-President of The Wings Club in New York, a past member of the boards of the Flight Safety Foundation, the Aero Club of Washington DC, and the NBAA’s Associate Member Advisor Council. He joined the FLYHT board of directors in August 2014

John Belcher – Audit Committee

John Belcher is a leading authority in aviation and air transport. John was formerly Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ARINC Incorporated. His prior experience includes positions as President and CEO, Hughes Aircraft of Canada, Ltd.; Vice President Hughes Aircraft Company; President and CEO, Thompson-Hickling Aviation; Senior Vice President, SPAR/PRIOR Data Sciences; Executive Director, Transport Canada; and Director General, Supply and Services Canada. John presently serves on seven other boards including LandMark Aviation, Signalhorn, NanoVapor, Anne Arundel Health System, World Trade Center Institute, Governor’s Work Force Investment Board, and Cyber Reliant. He joined FLYHT’s board of directors in August 2014.

Mark Rosenker – Governance & Compensation Committee

Mark Rosenker has many years of experience in the aviation industry including a past tenure as chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (“NTSB”). He is currently a consultant to CBS News and appears on their network to discuss transportation safety issues. Mark was the 11th Chairman of the NTSB from 2006 to 2009. He served President George W. Bush as Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of the White House Military Office from 2001 until the President nominated and appointed him to the NTSB. A retired Major General in the US Air Force Reserve, Mark entered active duty in June 1969 as Second Lieutenant from the University of Maryland ROTC program and completed more than 36 years of active and reserve service before retiring in December of 2006. During his career, General Rosenker received numerous awards and decorations including two Air Force Distinguished Medals and the Legion of Merit. Mark is a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College and the Air War College. Mark is a member of several corporate boards, as well a member of the Aerospace Industries Association’s Board of Governors. He is currently President of the Transportation Safety Group LLC, a specialized consulting company. He joined the FLYHT board of directors in June 2015.

Thomas R. Schmutz, Chief Executive Officer

Thomas R. Schmutz became the Chief Executive Officer for FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd. in October, 2015. Prior to FLYHT, Tom served as Vice President, Engineering at L-3 Communications, Aviation Recorders Division, in Sarasota FL, a position he held beginning in August, 2006. Tom also served as Vice President, Engineering for the Aviation Products Sector within the Products/Electronic Systems Group. Prior to L-3, Tom served as Vice President of Engineering for AirNet Communications, a telecommunications firm he helped to form in 1994 and take public in 1999. Prior to AirNet, he worked for Harris Corporation and was a Captain in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Mr. Schmutz holds an MBA from the University of South Florida, an MS from the Georgia Institute of Technology (GA Tech) where he studied Digital Signal Processing and Communication Theory and a BS degree from the United States Military Academy (West Point) where he studied Electrical Engineering. Paul Takalo, Interim Chief Financial Officer

Derek Graham, Chief Technical Officer

Derek Graham has more than 10 years of combined aeronautical satellite product development and management experience, Derek brings extensive depth and leadership to the FLYHT Team. Derek has previously worked at a major avionics manufacturer for 10 years in product line Management and development responsible for a line of successful aviation Iridium and Inmarsat communications products

David Perez, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Officer

David Perez joined the FLYHT team in July 2015. He has over 25-years of accomplishments in the aviation industry. Most recently he served as Director of Travel and Transportation at Hewlett-Packard (“HP”), where he leveraged his industry expertise to secure many strategic aviation agreements. Prior to HP, David was with EDS where he assisted aviation clients in identifying cost saving opportunities. He also brings added experience from his career at two industry leaders, Sabre and American Airlines

Michael Fang, Vice President China Sales

Michael Fang is an Avionics Engineer with more than 15 years of work experience in the Chinese aerospace industry. He has worked with both the Chinese Airlines and Chinese government regulators. He holds an MBA from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.

Matieu Plamondon, Vice President Operation & Customer Fulfillment, Officer

Matieu Plamondon was appointed Vice President in May 2016. He has over 15 years experience managing airline operational teams. He has also acquired experience in the IT and software industry while leading the operations team of a software provider supporting over 200 airlines worldwide. In his previous position as the Director Operational Control Centre at First Air he was responsible for the implementation of satellite communication and tracking within the centre.
