Airlines, leasing companies, fractional owners and original equipment manufacturers have installed the Automated Flight Information Reporting System (AFIRSTM) on their aircraft to capture, process and stream aircraft data with real-time alerts. AFIRS sends this information through satellite networks to the UpTimeTM cloud-based data center, which provides aircraft operators with direct insight into the operational status and health of their aircraft and enables them to take corrective action to maintain the highest standard of operational control.

Job Summary:

FLYHT is seeking an Avionics Test Engineer to perform functional and performance testing of FLYHT’s ground-breaking avionics products. They will have experience testing software embedded systems that include integrated communication capabilities. Knowledge of aircraft systems and aviation industry standards, such as ARINC specifications, would be an asset for this position as well as experience certifying avionics components to RTCA airworthiness standards such as DO-254 and DO-178.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Up to 0-15% travel required, including international travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Review System, Hardware and Software Requirements to provide feedback and derive test cases and procedures.
  • Create test Plans, test cases and procedures for verification of requirements.
  • Develop test fixtures as required to support testing.
  • Identify, obtain quotes and submit for procurement of material, software applications, electronic devices, etc. to support testing.
  • Execute test plans, cases and procedures and document results in a test report.
  • Develop test scripts to support and automate testing.
  • Analyze test processes to identity and facilitate efficiency improvements.
  • Lead limited group of engineers in a test engineer lead role.

Position will involve working with the following:

  • Satellite Voice and Data Communication equipment, such as Iridium and Inmarsat systems.
  • Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS).
  • Imbedded software avionic devices.
  • Multiple aircraft systems and interfaces.
  • Cloud/Web-based Enterprise Applications.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum: Technical degree or equivalent and 6 years of experience.
  • Experience with testing embedded firmware/software systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of application.
  • Should have experience on communication, navigation, audio systems, flight management systems, total systems integration, etc.
  • Systems integration experience.
  • Familiarity with tools and processes for test management and reporting.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, software testing frameworks such as Selenium, and automation platforms such as Jenkins.

  • Knowledge of aviation industry standards and/or regulations.
