Avionics System Engineer

Job Summary: The Avionics System Engineer is responsible for systems aspects of product design.  The position works with sales, product management and the CTO to determine market needs, generate product requirements and high-level product architecture for the development team

Critical Aspects:

  • Satellite communications subject matter expert
  • Technical leader and influencer

Accountabilities:

  • Work with multiple departments to determine customer requirements and derive requirements for design, development and testing
  • Provide technical support for equipment approvals and qualification

Responsibilities:

  • Support the generation of product and technical roadmaps
  • Determine customer requirements for new product development and enhancements
  • Generate high and low-level requirements for product development
  • Provide guidance to hardware and software development teams
  • Work with program management to produce project plans and estimates

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Requirements Management
  • Satellite communications
  • Aviation systems

Qualifications

Required:

  • Completion of relevant technical degree
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a systems engineering role
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in an engineering role
  • Experience in aviation or communications sectors
  • Team player
  • Ability to manage conflicting deadlines and prioritize accordingly

Asset:

  • Knowledge of aviation standards such as RTCA DO-160, DO-178, DO-254. DO-262, ARINC 771, 781, 834
  • Satellite communications experience
